Tec diving and tec instructor courses in Bali
Blue Season Bali is the only PADI CDC in Bali conducting PADI Tec Diving Courses and PADI Tec Instructor courses.
Tec diving is a fantastic way to see the deep walls and slopes Bali has to offer. With this said, technical diving is not for everyone. Technical diving is both challenging and rewarding- a process sure to transform your understanding and skills as a diver. If you take your technical diving up to the tec instructor level, you are looking at becoming a seriously competent and skilled scuba diving professional.
What is Tec Diving?
First of all, let's look at what is NOT technical diving. Simply going over the no decompression limits without the right training and equipment is not technical diving. It is stupid. Technical diving brings in key principles like redundancy of life support systems to help mitigate its additional inherent risks. Attempting to dive to technical depths or in technical diving environments without technical diving equipment and training can kill you.
Technical diving is defined as non-commercial or non-research diving that takes divers beyond recreational scuba diving limits. It is further defined as and includes one or more of the following:
- Diving beyond 40 meters
- Required stage decompression
- Diving in an overhead environment beyond 40 linear metes/130 linear feet of the surface
- Accelerated decompression and or the use of variable gas mixtures during the dive
Who can take the tec diving courses?
Well, the exact prerequisites vary depending on the level to which you aspire with your technical diving. However, these standards are expected of anyone interested in technical diving in Bali:
You should be at least:
- 18 years of age
- A mature, responsible person who will follow procedures strictly and faithfully
- Medically fit for tec diving
- Prepared to accept extra risks that tec diving presents
- An experienced diver with at least 100 logged dives,
- Certified as a PADI Rescue Diver. PADI Enriched Air Diver and certified as a PADI Deep Diver (or have significant deep diving experience).
We can help you with any or all of these technical diving prerequisites; just ask.
So, what is the structure of the PADI Tec Deep Diver program? Well, the revised PADI Technical Diving program is actually comprised of three individual curricula- The PADI Tec 40 course, the PADI Tec 45 course, and the PADI Tec 50 (TecDeep) Diver Course. Let's have a look at these components:
Tec 40 Course
The PADI Tex 40 Diver course is the first subdivision of the full PADI Tec Deep Diver course and consists of the first four dives (we normally make six here at BSB). This technical diving course will teach you how to make limited decompression dives planned on desktop decompression software and dive computers. You'll train to make up to 10 minutes of decompression using a single decompression gas (up to 50% oxygen) to add conservatism to your decompression schedule. Maximum technical diving depth: 40m.
The PADI Tec 40 course sets the foundation for the PADI Tec 45 and Tec 50 technical diving courses. We run this crucial technical diving course over 4 days, with up to six dives- not the 3 days / 4 dives you'll see everywhere else. Why? Precision.
This PADI Technical Diving course is USD650.00 per person.
Tec 45 Course
The PADI Tec 45 course takes Tec 40 divers (or equivalent) and pushes their training as a tec diver further and deeper. It is the second course in PADI's series of Technical Diving courses. This course will give you the skills, procedures and knowledge needed to dive to a maximum of 45 meters/145 feet. You will and execute single and repetitive decompression dives one deco cylinder (with nitrox or 100% oxygen) to accelerate decompression or add conservatism to your decompression stops planned with decompression software. You will develop an understanding of why precision is so important during accelerated decompression. During the Tec 45 course, you will begin preparing for deeper technical diving.
Our philosophy with technical diver training follows suit in the Tec 45 program. Elsewhere, you'll see the wham-bam courses of 3 days. We spend four to help you develop into a competent technical diver.
This PADI Technical Diving course is USD650.00 per person.
Tec 50 Deep Diver Course
The PADI Tec 50 course completes your training as a PADI TecDeep diver and certifies you as a technical diver trained to execute decompression dives to a maximum depth of 50m on any combination of nitrogen/oxygen (min 21%) mixtures for back gas and decompression. We will build on your development from the Tec 40 and Tec 45 courses and make you a truly competent technical diver.
You will be qualified to make independent team-based technical decompression dives after you are certified as a PADI TecDeep Diver!
Yep, you guessed it, this technical diving course takes 4 days. We also include two nights' accommodation in North Bali for the course culmination.
This PADI Technical Diving course is USD650.00 per person.
Combine the PADI Tec 40, 45 and 50 courses and get the best value package at USD2050.00 per person! -Minimum 12 days.
DSAT Gas Blender Course
Our Gas Blender course is the most in-depth in Bali. Our on-site blending center features state-of-the-art filling equipment and procedures. You will go beyond the minimum requirements and learn different gas filling systems including continuous flow and partial pressure blending. After completion of the DSAT/PADI Gas Blender course, you will be qualified to blend nitrox gases up to 100% oxygen for distribution to qualifed divers
We also offer Gas Blender Instructor training after every PADI IDC in Bali.
The DSAT/PADI Gas Blender course is USD250.00 per person.
